How to Revitalize Your Branding Without a Total Rebrand

You may have seen our recent post on 5 things you should know about rebranding, but what do you do if rebranding just isn’t in the cards right now? Maybe you need to wait and save up to reinvest back into your business. Or, maybe you’ve already got something you’re pretty happy with, but just want to freshen up your branding design a bit. Either way, we’ve got the answers for you!

Our best advice for you is to use what you have, right now. You don’t have to wait for things to be perfect to get started. There are some super simple design steps you can take to update your online and social media presence that can pack a big punch. Keep reading for our design tips on how to revitalize your branding without a total rebrand.

7 WAYS  TO REFRESH YOUR BRANDING DESIGN

01 | Unify your social media colors & theme.

Your social media feed should feel consistent with your branding design. Take the time to design a moodboard or gather some color swatches based on your current color scheme. Reference this every time you post a photo, and work on sharing images that are curated to the look and feel of your brand. A consistent aesthetic is key!

02 | Curate your portfolio.

Block out an afternoon (or even an entire day!) to go through your portfolio. Ask yourself: is this up-to-date? Are these the types of services and/or products I want to offer in the future? If not, start fresh and fill it with content that shares the type of work you’re looking to book. Remember, you want your portfolio to speak to your target audience.

03 | Get intentional with your messaging.

Go through all the copy on your site. Ask yourself: Am I speaking to my client directly? (Using the word YOU and not writing impersonally); Am I writing about my services from the vantage point of their pain points? What is stressing them out right now? Your website should immediately show your audience how your offerings are the solution to their problems.

04 | Update your headshots.

Anyone else guilty of having outdated headshots on their site? (Hand raised!) Adding a new headshot is a simple way to freshen up your site and even add some branding by intentionally choosing a shoot location and outfit colors that tell your brand story. Plus, your team headshots give your audience a glimpse of the faces, the people, being your brand.

05 | Clear the clutter on your site.

One of the biggest mistakes we see is having a really cluttered website design that distracts from the work itself. If this is the case with your site, take a few minutes to remove one or two extraneous accents on a main page of your site. A more simple, refined website design will allow your work to shine and allow the client to focus on the most important details on your site.

06 | Make it EASY to contact you.

Make sure there is a super easy way to contact you on every page and double check that all your social media links are current. (And, clients shouldn’t have to look for your Instagram!)

07 | List the locations you serve.

Oftentimes, people forget to list where they are located anywhere on their site. Listing where you are based out of on the footer of every page is a great way to brand yourself. For example:

  • If you’re a wedding planner, brand yourself as a destination planner or list the locales (and beyond) that you serve! This will also help with SEO as couples will often search for wedding planners where they are getting married.

  • If you’re an interior designer list the locations you design in, or if you offer any remote or virtual design services. Similar to the wedding planner example, interior design clients will likely search for designers in their area, or designers who are willing to travel to their area.

At the end of the day, you don’t necessarily need to do a complete rebranding design to revitalize your business. You need to do what’s best for you and for your brand! But you absolutely can (and should!) take all the steps above to refresh your branding design and keep your brand clear, consistent, and up-to-date!
